5 Tips on How to eat Cheap and Healthy

This was hard to come up with this because eating healthy is already cheap by nature.

Black beans, brown rice, canned green beans, etc.

But here's a few more tips.

1) Oatmeal can be bought in bulk at places like Sprouts.

2) Fruit can get expensive, so I just stick with bananas.

3) Canned tuna is pretty cheap and there's usually sales.

4) Buy the big bulky packages of meat to save money on protein.

5) Quit buying bottled water, it's a waste of plastic and money. I just use the water from my faucet.

Anyone else have any tips they want to share?

Willpower Instinct

I recently finished the book Willpower Instinct.

I decided to break it down to 27 tips because you probably lack the willpower to read it yourself.

1) Willpower is limited

Your willpower is like a life bar in a videogame or battery on your phone. It's only going to last so long. That's why you make worse decision as the day goes by.

2) Heart rate variability

Studies show that those that have a higher heart rate variability turn down temptations better. So slow your breathing to 5-6 breaths per minute for around 10 minutes and you'll make a better decision.

3) Working out adds willpower

When you start fixing one problem the momentum helps in other areas. Plus healthier people feel better and make better decisions too. That's why I'm so great.

4) Morning meditation Mess Up

Suck at meditation? Great. The fact you notice yourself messing up and trying to constantly get back on track will stick with you throughout the day as you catch yourself constantly getting distracted.

5) Seeing yourself do it

If you can see yourself doing something it makes it much easier to actually do that. See yourself or plan doing the task first, then you'll much more likely do it.

6) WANT makes WILL

If you don't have a strong enough WANT you'll never have the WILLpower. Losing weight to feel better is not as strong a want as making your ex jealous.

7) Good person rationalization

Many people feel so good after doing one good thing that they feel they can justify their next fuck up. You donated money so you can talk down to your waiter. That's why you see so many people in fast food restaurants in their gym clothes. They think they earned it.

8) Your identity

Think about how many things you do because you feel that's what you're supposed to do. Esquire and GQ market around the identity that makes men think they're James Bond. 'Don't Mess with Texas' stopped littering around the identity of gritty tough state pride. Think on how to make an identity around the things that will actually benefit you.

9) Opportunity Only

Studies show many people will do things only for the opportunity but not actually do it. You'll go to a restaurant because of the healthy options but not actually order them. Such as McDonald's Big Mac going up in sales after they added low calorie foods to the menu.

Just like I like living in a city like Austin with so many things to do, but I just stay home. I like the idea of being able to things.

10) Tomorrow I will be able to do it

People think of tomorrow as in it will be a much better day to do it. They'll be a stronger person, the day will be full of open time. That day will never come.

11) Dopamine vs Seratonin

People like quick dopamine boosts. Checking email and Facebook, watching quick video after video on YouTube, it's like high calorie, low nutrition food.

When you do the things that actually make you feel good and give you serotonin such as completing a big project you wonder why you don't do this more often.

It's because the body discounts the rewards that you have to wait for.

They did an experiment with Chimps and humans. The Chimps outdid the humans on waiting for bigger rewards by a severe margin.

So even if you think you're above average at waiting for rewards, you're only good for a human.

12) Are you as Excited as an Electrocuted Rat?

Rats were stimulated in the part of the brain that gives you excitement if they ran on the electric bars in their space. They ran on those bars until they couldn't physically do it anymore. As cruel as this experiment was, it shows that excitement is more rewarding than the actual reward.

People are much more excited about a lottery win than savings through a stock index fund. It's much more exciting to think of what could happen than what will happen.

Hard to get that excited about a slow fat loss process. Much more exciting is Papa John's on it's way to your door.

13) Hooks

That thing that has you constantly looking for a new notification. that next text, that Instagram like. These are the hooks that people who make apps and video games base their entire model.

It can work for your good as well. Apps that teach coding, foreign languages, and calorie counting are trying implement this.

14) Stress Terror Management

People naturally indulge to relieve stress. That's why companies love advertising during the news. All that scare mongering makes people want to buy.

People buy nice cars or vacations to deal with bad relationships. People buy expensive TV's and video game consoles to deal with being in debt. People eat to get over being fat.

15) Ask yourself while you're fucking up

While you're fucking up ask yourself during what lead to this and you can find your trigger behavior. Because you didn't get sleep? Because you were starving? Because you're overworked? Be cause of the people you hanging around? Because you were around the birthday cake?

16) Wait 10 minutes

Much like controlling your breathing for heart rate variability, waiting 10 minutes usually sets your mind in a better decision making mode.

17) Fuck up upon sight

People can much more easily make better decisions when the temptation in not in your direct sight.

So stay away!

18) Burn your ships

Like the famous story of Cortes burning his ships so they couldn't retreat, make it so that you can back out of your goal.

Announce a big proclamation on Facebook or wager a bet that you'll donate to the KKK if you don't follow through. Unless you support the KKK, then you should donate to Black Lives Matter.

19) You vs Future You

People think of the future them as a stranger. You put off things for the future and give all the work to them like an asshole. Think of them as you and you'll be much more nicer to yourself.

Send out an email to yourself that won't come until a much later date and see how different you are actually.

Do I want this ice cream sandwich now vs do I want to deal with the repercussions later?

20) Too far sighted is a problem

Some people don't indulge enough and save money forever or stay away from bad food all the time and never actually enjoy life at all (me?). They actually need to make indulging a goal to do every now and then.

21) Out of shape infection

There's an infection that can affect people without knowing it and is scientifically proven. People that are out of shape make everyone around them become out of shape. And vice versa. So think of who you surround yourself with and they will begin to shape you. The closer they are to you the worse.

22) Social Norms

As a follow up to the last point, most people cheat on their taxes so you shouldn't feel bad. Well, that's not really the case but it's a belief and the fact it's a popular held belief gives many people the okay to do so. Same thing when all your friends are fat or lazy or negative.

23) Shame Vs Pride

Self shaming only makes your willpower weaker and more susceptible to giving in. Which is why shaming doesn't work.

Researchers have found that pride works the other way and more people are willing to stay strong out of the want for pride.

So go ahead and be prideful. Never mind those Seven Deadly Sins.

24) No White Bear

Tolstoy's older brother asked him to stay in a corner until he couldn't stop thinking about white bears. He came back much later to see him still in that corner. When you tell your mind to stop thinking about something, it doesn't receive the NOT part. Only the subject. DON'T eat chocolate. Becomes EAT CHOCOLATE.

Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want.

25) Accept the Thoughts

You will feel anxious, frustrated, mad, sad, tired, and will probably try to suppress the emotions. I don't know what you've heard about suppression, but the general idea is that it's NOT GOOD. Accept those feelings. You're only human. Accepting those thoughts doesn't mean you have to act on them. But accepting them and thinking about them  makes it much easier.

26) Surf the Urge

When you find yourself wanting to give in, and especially while you give in. Ask yourself what brought you to this point, what is it like.

What does it feel like? Are you tense? Where? How do you feel emotionally?

This will help you in the future or help you get out of a bad state.

Because the best way to not fuck up, is to fuck up, and then ask yourself why.

27) EGO

People who think they have the most willpower are likely to have the least.

Derek Sivers has even more notes from the book on his blog. https://sivers.org/book/WillpowerInstinct

3 Reasons to Walk

1) Great for your Back

Walking is non negotiable for eliminating back pain.

Walking fast unloads the spine and challenges the later parts of the spine and core.

Don't walk slow. Slow walking does the opposite and loads the spine.

Keep your head up and chest forward, poor posture is bad for the back.

Make sure you're swinging your arms,

Aim for 2-3 twenty to thirty minute walks a day.

2) Great Low Impact Cardio

You can burn around 120 calories with one thirty minute session.

Do that 3 times a day and you're burning 360 calories!

Do that 7 days a week and you're burning over 2500 calories a week!

That's over an entire days worth of calories for most people.

And you're doing it all without hurting your knees, feet, ankles, and back.

You're actually healing your back!

3) Great for Productive Meditation

In the book 'Deep Work' by Cal Newport he recommends walking as a way to be only occupied physically and not mentally. Allowing you to focus on a single problem.

Many poets, writers, scientists, and Greek philosophers have all used walking as a way to bring about their best ideas or answers to perplexing problems.

Isaac Newton was well known for wondering around in endless thought.

Go ahead, google some examples. It's endless!

Runners Up Include:

Boosts brain power, fights dementia, heart disease, high blood pressure, stress, and most importantly your dog will love you for it.

For more information on walking helping your back pain, check out the book the 'Back Mechanic' by Stuart McGill

Are You Getting Anwhere?

STOP DOING THIS

Don't talk about your goals

Doing that gives you a false sense of accomplishment and annoys your friends.

Quit looking for new information on how to get results

There's nothing new to doing what you need to do. Don't reinvent the wheel. It's all common knowledge.

Don't complain

Gain weight easy? Hard to put on muscle? Does that mean it's impossible? Work harder. Was it hard for you to go to work one day because of traffic? Did you just not show up?

Don't take things for granted

Think about all the business that were huge and now are gone. Think about the people in high school that were popular and now are nothing. Think about the A-list actors from the a decade ago that can hardly get a decent role on a TV show. Did you get in shape but then started to gain weight. Happens all the time. Did you get cocky? Did you start to slide because you thought you could get away with that extra bagel?

Don't shop for groceries or go to restaurants hungry

You crave empty carbs been you're hungry. You'll buy Red Baron pizzas at the store, or eat 2 baskets full of corn chips or bread sticks. Chips make hips and rolls make rolls.

Don't look for an easy way to get results

There is none. If there was, everyone would have already accomplished it.

START DOING THIS

Track what you're eating

Track your exercises. Blog, journal it, track it. If you're not, you obviously don't care enough and deserve to get there.

Be happy that it's hard to be in shape

If it was easy, everyone would look great. Personally, I'd hate that, I would have to be judged off my personality and I would never survive.

Recognize your bad habits.

Bad habits don't immediately give you bad results. If ice cream immediately upped your body fat by 15% and gave you type 2 diabetes you'd stop eating (I hope).

It's the little things that get you, because they're little and you let them slide. Back pain, body fat, high blood pressure, bad relationships, low wages, everything bad in life is from your bad habits.

Prove to yourself who's in control

I give up things to show myself who's in charge. I can't live with the fact that anything could possibly have control over me. Maybe it's because I have a history of addicts in my family, but I can't live without knowing I have control.

Stay away from bad environments

It's easy to eat healthy when I"m home because I don't have junk food around at all. At my grandmas house it's harder to make those choices.

Recognize your successes

So many of you are so successful in areas of your life but can't do something so simple that you want to do? Why? Think about how good you are at other things, how you did that, and how you could apply that to your fitness goals?

FRIENDS

No one is going to help you

Everyone is too worried about the little dilemmas in their life to waste their time thinking about what you're doing. Are you thinking about their aspirations right now, or are you concerned with your own?

Get rid of loser friends and people that aren't developing themselves

Eliminate bad influences from your life, they don't want you around anyway. If you stop drinking you won't want to be around your drinking buddies, and they definitely don't want a sober person around. If you eat healthy, people who eat shit don't want you around reminding them of how bad their life choices are.

Negative people and bad influences are not so transparent

They're hidden in your life and use subtlety to throw you off base. Think hard on who they are, and they'll eventually reveal themselves. Just like they'll slowly get you off track, not just push you off the rails in a few single meetings.

"That's too hard. It's easy for her. Wish my family was rich. That could never happen. Easy for them to say. If I had time and money I could do that." People who say things like that are friends you need to delete.

Do you have the right mentor?

A lot of trainers were in shape at one point but now are chubby or even fat. They say they know how to get in shape though and flash old photos of themselves. But being in shape isn't about getting in shape one time, it's about a lifestyle you can maintain. If they can't live that, how could they possibly teach it?

THE COMPOUND EFFECT

A lot of what I mentioned was taken from life experience, and a lot of the things mentioned were also heavily influenced by a recent book I've been reading called THE COMPOUND EFFECT by Darren Hardy. http://www.thecompoundeffect.com/

Not Working Out is Just as Hard as Working Out

Want to workout and you're too tired. What if I told you it takes the same amount of energy to not workout than it does to workout... Got your attention?

Think about it, you want to workout but don't. Do you automatically get relieved of all this energy and time of working out? No, you're still doing something. Now, you may have saved a lot of physical energy but now you're going to have guilt, regret, and have used the mental energy to lie to yourself and rationalize why you can't workout.

Image result for brainstorming
You can brainstorm for excuses or just do the work.

Ever been unemployed? Was life without ta job fun and relaxing? Stressing about money, your future, resumes, and interviews. It's probably way more work and stressful than most jobs. Same thing when you don't do the things you know you need to do. The more guilty you feel, the more you need to do it.

Image result for unemployed

Most hope that one day they just feel so guilty they just have to do it. By that point you're so far in the negative side of that receipt it's going to be 10X the work to where you initially wanted to be. Where, if you would've just done it in the beginning you would've had a receipt on calories spent.

Image result for 10x
Speaking of 10X, here's a great read

Hell, most of you are literally spending money on the gym and don't go to it. It takes just as much money for a gym membership you go to, as one you don't go to.

Image result for empty gym
The gym is making plenty of money whether or not you show up

It's like this for everything, that person you wanted to ask out, that career you wanted to try out, that novel you want to write, it goes on and on.

Image result for mozzarella sticks

Quit wasting all that energy on excuses. Does the taste of those Mozzarella sticks last near as long the guilt you keep from eating it? If it does, let me know where you got them.

Image result for receipt

You're going to pay a price either way, may as well pay for something you want.

5 Reasons You're Not Losing Weight

5 Reasons You're Not Losing Weight

1) You're eating more than you think

You're eating real natural food, getting plenty of protein, but you're still not losing enough weight.
If you need to be eating under 1900 calories to lose weight, but are eating 2200 a day you're not going to lose the body fat you need. Even if everything you're eating is natural, organic, full of protein, etc.

Lots of foods can sneak up on you too. A slice of Ezekiel bread is filling as far as bread goes, and healthy too. But 3 slices come out to almost 300 calories. An entire cup of oatmeal is around 300 as well and is way more filling and has much more protein. But calories can sneak up on you that way.

Nuts, seeds, avocados, raisins, all kinds of healthy food can sneak up on you. This is especially important for people trying that last piece of stubborn body fat.

Chips may not look that fattening but easily add up to lots, and I mean a lot, of calories.

Whole wheat pasta may be healthy but has a lot of calories.

2) Your diet's good, but you're not active enough

The diet that works for you when your active all week, will not work while you're working hours and making excuses why you can't get to the gym. Weight gain doesn't caer about excuses.

So that means you either have to lower calories or become more active. If you have the choice, choose for being more active. It only takes 30-60 minutes a day. You don't have to go crazy, you're not training for the Iron man.

3)  You're active, but not lifting

Skinny Fatitis

You're doing a lot of cardio, and keeping your calories in check but still don't have the body you want. Well, have you ever been to a marathon or triathlon. Lots of impressive athletes, not a lot of impressive bodies.

Lifting weights may make you weigh more because of the increased muscle mass, but you'll actually look much better, and have a higher metabolism by the increased muscle. Therefor making you look leaner, and keeping you leaner.

4) You're losing but now aware of it

a) You've lost weight, but due to homeostasis your body has retained water weight and you think you haven't lost weight. So you get pissed off and just eat bad anyway because whats the point. Now you actually messed up, but you think it's because you can't lose weight. Stick with the plan for a while and follow through.

b) You've lost body fat everywhere but your main area, so it makes your stubborn body fat look even fatter in comparison with your lean body.

5) Your calories aren't low enough

Some people go on a diet but only cut a few calories and need to cut far more. Even if they are losing weight, it's so slow they barely notice it and think it's impossible and give up. If you'd like to lose it slowly, go for it. But I've rarely met anyone that does.

12 Facts about Cellulite

If you or anyone you've loved has ever been a victim of cellulite, then... that's normal. But one can one do about it?

Well, much I like I like to wage war against the fitness industry of con men and myths, I'll help you wage war against this evil curse known as CELLULITE.

1) What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is dimples in your fat. That's it.

It's nothing more than fat under your skin that's pushing out and creates the ugly cellulite look.

2) How to Get Rid of Cellulite

Get rid of the fat, you'll get rid of the cellulite.

Yep, that's it. That simple, yet that difficult for many.

3) Don't use Liposuction

Liposuction only sucks out the fat, not the cellulite underneath. And will actually make it look worse.

The horror stories of post lypo work will be an article unto itself.

4) The Cellulite Industry wants to Rip You Off

There is no evidence that Cellulite Creams, Rollers, or whatever else work. There is scientific proof that they can have harmful side effects. All Risk-No Gain.

The only guarantee I can give you about any of these products is they will cost money.

5) Once Again, The Only Cure is to Nutrition and Exercise

Remember what I said earlier about the only cure is to lose the fat, I meant it.

6) Cellulite Will Be More Prominent in Some Areas, Thus Will Be Harder to Fight

You can't choose which part of your body you lose fat from. You'll have to lose all the body fat necessary for you to lose that fat from that area, the area that has the the Cellulite.

7) You're a Victim of Your DNA

Like almost everything in fitness, some are more genetically inclined to have it than others. So some will have much more fat and no cellulite, while others can be relatively lean and still have some cellulite.

8) Cellulite is Immortal

It never truly goes away, just harder to see when you lose the weight.

9) Women are Screwed

Once again, women are screwed in the fitness department as women predominantly put on more cellulite than men.

10) Just Add Bad Habits

10) Think of Cellulite as plant. If you'd like it to grow just add bad diets, fad diets, no sleep, smoking, etc.

As if you needed another reason to not do the above. Remember as I said before, Cellulite is an immortal monster. Don't feed the beast.

11) Massage Won't Cure Cellulite

You may have heard massage therapy can make make cellulite diminish.

It's true, but only temporarily, then it goes back to normal.

Chose massage therapy for all the other benefits, not for cellutlite.

12)  Lasers and Science Can't Help You

"Can't the latest research and newest lasers destroy cellulite?" Maybe one day. But today is not that day.

Like I said many times, the only cure is to GET RID OF THE FAT.

FINAL THOUGHT

Cellulite is a lot like stubborn body fat, slow metabolism, small body parts you wish were bigger, etc. It's just your genetic make up. You can choose to make it better or worse, but basically it's part of you and how you deal with it. Accept defeat and let it takeover, or fight the good fight and keep it in it's place. Yeah, some people have it easier, but you have it easier in other departments.

That's it for this week. Keep sending those questions in and yours may become the next blog post.

Supplements That Actually Work

My typical review of supplements

Now I'm sure you're used to me trashing supplement companies by now. So let's change things up and actually promote the few useful supplements there are out there.

Multivitamins

You should get all your vitamins and minerals from a well balanced diet, but most of you won't do that so take a multivitamin.

For those few of you that do eat a very well balanced diet, a multivitamin won't hurt. Just in case you're somehow missing out on something.

Fish Oils

I could sit here and type all the amazing benefits of fish oils but University of Maryland Medical Center already did that for me. So I shall copy and paste.

– Improving cholesterol levels
– Lowering blood pressure
– Reducing the risk of heart disease
– Ditto for diabetes
– Managing arthritis symptoms
– Preventing osteoporosis
– Reducing the risk of – depression
– bipolar disorder
– schizophrenia
– ADHD
– cognitive decline
– muscular degeneration
– asthma
– breast, prostate and colon cancers

Udo's 3-6-9 Oil Blend is a great supplement to get the correct amount of each.

Caffeine

Why take a pre-workout when you can just drink black coffee? Unless you hate the taste of coffee, just remember that the only thing in the pre-workout making you go crazy is the caffeine. All the rest is a bunch of bullshit and flavorings used to make it not taste as bad and for marketing hype.

Really, it's that hard for you to handle some caffeine?

Creatine

If you're looking to get strong, put on more muscle, believe or not there's a supplement that actually does that.

Creatine is something your body provides naturally, taking creatine gives you more of that. Kind of like a guy injecting Testosterone, except a) you don't inject anything b) it's not a steroid.

Mark Mcguire said he was just on Creatine. It's good but not that good.

And you don't go back to looking like this when you get off creatine.

For the naysayers, Creatine is one of the most studied supplements out there that has no proven long or short term side effects .

Best of all it's cheap. Just buy the basic Creatine Monohydrate, don't let the sales guy try to talk you into the more expensive kind. They'll tell you they put  ground up dinosaur bones if it helps sell it, but  again it's all marketing hype. The supplement companies do that because they can't make any money off basic inexpensive creatine.

I've used it, and I know it works. If you're thinking about it, try it. Nothing to lose except 20 bucks.

Protein Powder

It's a supplement, not food. If you can't get enough protein into your body with normal foods, use this. Most people struggle with getting enough protein into their diets, so I understand. You should still focus on getting it naturally though.

Don't go crazy buying near $100 canisters of powder. Don't buy cheap either. Some of the the more expensive ones will taste better, mix easier, and have more protein per scoop which makes it easier to mix into foods if you're trying to make something like a protein pancake. If they could just figure out how to not make me dig through for the scooper.

There's a hack.

Bars can be good, but again use them rarely. They can have a lot of fat, sugar, and carbs with them as well.

Only use supplements 1-2 times a day MAX!

Also, most people are lactose intolerant and whey contains dairy... be prepared for possible protein farts.

Vitamin D

Great for bone density, fighting cancer, etc.. You get it from both the sun and food.

The sun? Yes, for dog owners have you ever noticed how your dog likes to just lay around and sun bathe? That's for vitamin D. Though they can't actually absorb it that way because of their fur, which is why you'll see them licking their body to absorb it orally... wait, I'm way off point now.

Vegans definitely need this supplement as it's mostly found in meat and dairy based foods.

Final Thought

So now you see why I rarely recommend supplements. These few that actually work are optional or are used to supplement something you should be getting naturally,

But I do recommend the ones mentioned because a) They actually work b) They're cheap c) Most people need them as most peoples diets are terrible d) and Fish Oil is just too good not to take.

As much as I hate doing self promotion, if you like this blog be sure to subscribe, share, comment, like, any of that stuff. I appreciate it.

Insiders Guide to How Gyms Rip You Off

1) They Don't Want You to Show Up

Gyms are a lot like the banks. If just half the people came to the bank and withdrew their money the bank would be broken.

Same things with gyms, if half the people or even less showed up to the gym that day, the gym would be shut down for fire-code violations.

They're BANKING on you not showing up, and collecting money from your ETF that's on CONTRACT.

2) Contracts

Good luck getting out of them. You can pay out of your contract but they'll end up winning on that as well. They'll do everything they can to make it hard for you.

Not just hard but almost impossible. They'll not answer your phone calls, your emails, your letters, and even literally hide from you in the gym.

One of the most popular moves is you have to send them a signed letter saying you want to leave, hoping that since you're too lazy to use the gym, you'll also be too lazy to write a letter and send it.

Sometimes there's clauses saying you have to show proof of address that you're moving and they might debate you that it's not far enough away, or might not believe the proof of address you sent.

Worst of all, a lot of times they still don't cancel your contract no matter what. Look at Yelp reviews of gyms you're thinking about or currently going to and see how many people are complaining about the gym still charging them despite them supposedly being cancelled.

Protip; Tell them you're going to Yelp review them, BBB review them, etc. and watch how fast they get a hold of you.

3)  Sign Up Fees

Sign Up Fees, Key Card Fees, Membership Fees...They're all MADE UP. Why would you be charged for signing up? Why are you being punished for signing up for a gym?! It makes no sense. Processing fees? What is that?! That's the stupidest thing I ever heard, and...IT WORKS!

Ever notice they can wave fees if you sign up this week, or there's a special this month. Why? If they can charge less or more at a whim, why ever pay more than you have to? They're making it up as they go. Remember roaming fees?

I was hired as a gym manager about 3 months into training, shows you how important that job is. And I could basically make up any number I wanted, the owners wanted it to be higher if possible, but what was most important was locking in those ETF's on contract.

If the members at these gyms knew what everyone else was paying there'd be all kind of fights.

So if you refuse to pay the sign up fee, key-card fee, or even want a lower membership fee you can usually get it. Even the big box gyms like Golds or 24 Hour.

You can definitely get away with this at the smaller boutique gyms, since not only can they make their own rules without their overlords telling them what to do, they really need the memberships since all the big box gyms are driving them out of business.

Gyms have high pressure on either themselves or by their bosses to keep a certain amount of members so if a gym is having bonuses for new members, tell them you want that or you'll leave. Or say you'll leave if you don't get a lower rate because another gym has a better deal. Ask for free training or something like that.

They'll hate you, and you'll be an ass hole, but guess what... it will most likely work because the squeaky wheel get's the grease. They're trying to rip you off, so you might as well do the same.

The smaller boutique gyms are often just as bad or worse than the box gyms with corruption.

4)  Personal Trainers

Personal training is great. I mean I do it for a living. But 90% of trainers are shit. Especially the trainers you get from a  gym. That's where trainers go when they're first starting out, need clients badly, and a tiny percentage of what you're paying the gym. And you're paying first rate prices.

What kind of trainer do you think you're getting when it's an inexperienced trainer, that's willing to get paid almost nothing for a hours of work. I'll tell you what kind, the kind that's not worth the money you're paying. Hell, sometimes the only way I can tell the difference between the the trainer and the client is because is one of them is wearing a shirt that says TRAINER.

Look, I know new trainers need to make a living, but sorry, there's now way I could pay them to train anyone I know. I was good because I'd trained myself and researched from people WAY smarter than me, so I knew how to train clients already.

Anyway, when you get to a gym they'll try to sign you up with a trainer on the biggest package possible, and then settle for the smallest.

Regardless, they'll sign you up with a FREE consultation where the trainer makes a second attempt to sign you up with training. Going for the biggest package first, then settling for whatever you'll sign up for.

During the consult they'll point out all your flaws such as your high body fat, weaknesses, posture, flexibility, and how far you are from your goals and hope that guilt will encourage you to buy an expensive package. Much like your Funeral business.

They taught me at 24 hour to take really big pinches on body fat to make their body fat seem way higher than it was.

They will call you and keep you accountable to show up, not always because they care about you. They only get paid by the gym when you show up, so they want you to show up. Otherwise the gym keeps the money.

5) Supplements

The reason all the supplements on clothing are in the front of the gym is just like how gum and candy is right at the front of the gas station and grocery store.

When done training clients at 24 they'd force me to walk my clients through the supplement part of the gym and want me to sell them on bull shit supplements like sugary protein bars, wasteful diet pills, pre-workouts that are nothing more than caffeine, and calorie counters like BodyBugs and Fit Bits.

Smaller gyms will try to get you buy stuff like Advocare, Plexus, and other MLM products.

I'll admit I sold some Spark to my clients, for the ones that want caffeine but hate coffee. But they'll try to get you to buy Detoxes and cleanses and crap. But that's another subject all together.

6) Final Thought

I'm not telling to avoid gyms, you just have to be aware of that it's msotly a con game.

Same thing with everything else. Most people are dangerous behind a wheel, but I'm not telling you to never drive.

Notice how many other business I referenced. Banks, Funeral business, convenience stores. they all rip you off and gyms stole from the best.

When it comes to training, there's a lot of things to learn and know to get better. But it's not marketable to know how to warm up your piriformis, or strengthen your rhomboids for better posture. A very, very niche audience.

What's marketable are crazy diet pills, hyped up trainers chanting things to you while focusing on your FAT BURNING ZONE, and other kinds of lies.

So cut the fat out of your life both figuratively and literally when it comes to fitness.
